In the next financial module, I will look at how to justify investment in intangibles. For instance, in the accounts marketing is treated as an expense. So a campaign to build brand will reduce this year’s profits – but the investment will lead to higher revenues and margins in future years.

We need a different approach and I will explore:

  • brand
  • training and leadership
  • customer lifetime value
  • the value of a sales funnel

But we have a couple of other things to consider before we get to that module.
